About eatconvoy

eatconvoy is an independent local guide to San Diego's Convoy District in Kearny Mesa, telling diners what to order, when to go and where to park. It's made by a local who eats here all the time and got tired of guides that stop at "it's good." It covers 104 spots and 16 "Best of" guides, and every listing tries to answer the questions you actually have before you go: what to order, when to show up, where to park, and what the house rules are.

How listings are built

  • Hours are cross-checked across Google, Yelp and the business's own website or Instagram. When sources disagree, we use the more conservative time. Where a kitchen reliably stops seating before its posted close, we list the real last-seating time.
  • What to order comes from the dishes regulars mention most, not from the menu's first page. We also flag dishes reviewers keep warning about.
  • Parking ratings (Easy, Medium, Brutal) describe the lot at peak times. Spots that share a lot share a plaza on the parking guide.
  • "Good to know" covers the things that trip people up: waitlists, card minimums, service charges, time limits, closed days.
  • Closures stay on the site, clearly marked, so a search for the old name gets an answer instead of a dead link.

No pay-to-rank

Nobody pays to be listed, ranked or included in a guide. Picks are based on what the food, the value and the experience actually deliver.

Keeping it current

Convoy turns over fast. Listings get rechecked regularly, and the New on Convoy page tracks openings, closings and name changes. Every spot page shows a live open-now badge based on its listed hours.
